"There's a crack in everything, that's how the light gets in." - Leonard Cohen
ABOUT jessica
I offer a wide range of high quality therapeutic and assessment services. I specialise in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy in treating anxiety disorders, mood disorders, adjustment challenges, and interpersonal difficulties. I have many years of solid theoretical training in psychology, as well as wide ranging practical experience in various settings. I have worked with people in Hospitals (The Steve Biko Academic Hospital), Student Counselling Divisions (at The University of Pretoria), Children’s Homes (The Jacaranda Children's Home), Government Clinics (The Stanza Bopape Clinic), Schools (The High Performance Centre) and Rehabilitation Centres (Stabalis Treatment Centre). I am currently working as a part-time psychologist for students at the University of Pretoria and supervise psychology Masters students at the University.
Academically, I completed my Bachelor’s degree, my Honours degree, my Masters degree and my Doctorate degree in Psychology at the University of Pretoria. For my Doctorate degree I investigated the utility of a school-level social connectedness intervention as a pathway to promote teacher resilience in challenged contexts. My research found that sharing this social connectedness space with teachers from other schools broadens available social resources for professional development and emotional support and contributes positively to resilience.
